15 Minute Analysis - Taken

The movie I have decided to analysis is Taken starring Liam Neeson which is about the capture of his daughter and him trying to bring her back. The movie is centred around revenge as he takes revenge on those who have taken her from him.

In the first 15 minutes the main characters are introduced and the traits are displayed. The main character, Bryan Mills, is shown as a lonely father who is desperately trying to regain the affection of his estranged daughter, Kim, who he has not known for many years of his life because of commitments to the US army. Mills is seen talking about his daughter and their growing relationship in almost every scene which shows how committed he is to her and regaining their relationship.  Although this shows him to be a loving father it also shows his obsession and paranoia which is seen later in the film.
The Music used in the first 15 minutes is primarily slow piano which shows depression from the view of Mills which makes the viewer feel that he is lost without his relationship with his daughter and shows how lonely he is without her.
Another main character shown in the beginning of the movie is the mother or ex wife Lenore. This character is seen only undermining Mills authority or mocking him. This shows the general hatred she has towards her ex husband and also shows how she wants him to have little or no authority over their daughter. This can be seen mainly towards the last few minutes where she out right tells Mills that she thinks he is pathetic for deny his daughter to travel to Paris unaccompanied.
